Brass gooseneck kettle pouring over freshly ground Indonesian coffee

Origin Collective · Rotterdam

Coffee, expressed the way the farm made it.

A Rotterdam roastery working with producers across coffee-growing regions. The first chapter comes from Wanoja Farm in West Java, growing competition-grade coffee since 1956, alongside a fine Robusta from South Sumatra. Four coffees, four processes, one short chain back to origin.

Process-led

Processing changes everything.

The same origin can become clean and bright, winey and fruit-forward, sweet and layered, or bold and full-bodied. This collection is built around process, so what you taste maps cleanly to how the coffee was made.

Full Washed

Clean, bright, precise. Cherries are depulped and washed before drying, which strips fruit influence and leaves clarity and structure.

Natural

Fruit-forward, aromatic, winey. Cherries dry intact with the fruit on, deepening sweetness and pushing flavour toward berry and stone fruit.

Black Honey

Sweet, rounded, layered. Most of the mucilage is left on the bean during drying, adding body and brown-sugar character without full fruit dominance.

Semi-Washed Robusta

Bold, creamy, intense. A faster wet-hull process common in Indonesia, producing a low-acid, full-bodied cup with chocolate and roasted nut.

Roasted to order

Small batches. Colour sorted. Clearer in the cup.

We roast in artisan 25 kg batches, close to the moment of ordering.

After roasting, each batch is colour sorted to remove visual defects. The result is a cleaner, more consistent cup that keeps the character of the origin.

You receive coffee that is fresh by definition, not by promise.

Kamojang highlands, West Java

Java

Wanoja Farm, West Java.

Wanoja sits in the volcanic highlands around Kamojang. The farm has been growing coffee since 1956 and is known for competition-grade Arabica across nine distinct processing methods on the same beans. Wanoja is now focused on returning coffee varieties to the region, onboarding new farmers in step with nature and the wider community.

Wanoja also runs quality control and packing for all our Indonesian coffees at origin, including the South Sumatra Robusta. Every lot is tested and packed as green coffee before it ships. We then roast to order in Rotterdam and colour sort each batch, so the chain stays short and the work stays visible at both ends.

The three Arabicas in this collection come from the same farm and the same harvest window, processed three different ways, so you can taste the farm change shape with the method.

New regions join as they clear our due diligence and market testing. The newsletter is where they appear first.

South Sumatra

Sumatra

South Sumatra.

South Sumatra produces some of Indonesia's most distinctive Robusta. Semi-washed at origin, the cup carries the body and low-acid character the region is known for.

Fine Robusta, treated as a coffee in its own right.

Built with SourceLoop

Traceable to the bean.

We work with SourceLoop, a digital product passport for coffee. Every lot carries a geolocated fingerprint of the bean and an unbiased Kaldi Score, independent grading you can verify, not a marketing claim.

The Origin Fund

€1 per bag, reserved near origin.

From launch onwards, €1 from every 200g bag sold is reserved through SourceLoop for origin-level and supply-chain improvements as close to the source as possible. As the Origin Fund develops, we will make the contribution and its use more transparent.
